Affidavit of Heirship

Determining heirship is extremely important. We need to establish where we stand in the heirship of our family. Our place in the line of those who came before and those who come after.

Paul wanted us to know where we stood once we became a part of the family of God. Wandering about like lost sheep, we were not participating in the heirship of the family of God. Our standing in the family had not been established. We were lost. We had no claim to all that God had prepared for us.

Once we accept Christ as our Savior we become heirs with Israel to the throne, for all eternity. That relationship establishes our standing in the family and our right to take part in all things of the throne of God.

When a will is not present, it is possible to complete a document called an affidavit of heirship. This document proves to the state,  your rights as heir.  A supporting affidavit of heirship must go with your affidavit. Someone must attest to how long they have known you. They sign this before a notary. It becomes a legal document. The signer attests that he or she has a history with you. They can attest they know all about you and you have a legal right as heir. Until the state is confident that you have adequately proved your heirship, you have no standing.

I like to think that Christ is our supporting affidavit before God. He attests to knowing us and for how long. He knows all about our life. He proves out our right to stand as heirs. He signs and seals our affidavit of heirship with His blood.

He cannot attest, if we don’t know Him. We must not let a society slowly withdrawing from a belief in Christ,  lead us away from the importance of knowing Christ as our Savior. Find Him, believe Him and continually grow daily in your  relationship with Him.  The day will come when He will stand before God and attest to our right as heirs to eternal life. Will He be able to say He knows us, and attest to our right as heirs before God?

~Scripture For Today~

Romans 8:17

And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. (KJV)

Ephesians 3:6

That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel. (KJV)

~Prayer For Today~

Hello Father! Hallowed be Your name. Thank You for making a way for us to become heirs to all that You have for us. We pray for a long, lasting, daily relationship with Your Son, that in that day, He can say of us, He knows us and can attest to our right as heir to the throne of God and eternal life. We pray for all to come to the saving grace, so freely given to those who believe. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
