Aisle One

I decided to start studying through God’s word. One book at a time. Soak the words up, linger a while, so that they stay ever present. We are living in perilous times. So much seems so wrong. Hatred and misbehavior are the normal. It all started in the garden. The serpent crept in and the mess unfolded. Adam and Eve started the end of all the wonderful plans God had in store for them. Wondrous plans that would have included us.

Nothing surprises Father God. He was prepared to start the process of bringing mankind out of the mess. It took centuries of reforming the lives of so many to carry on His work. He used people who made mistakes, lied, were dishonest, even murdered. He turned them into redeemed sinners. I am a recipient of that redeeming grace. I pray you are.

I have learned in my years of living that there is no greater truth than that the rain falls on all. Loving, believing, trying to faithfully serve God, does not disqualify us from messes, mistakes, failures, grief, sickness and pain. The difference? The one who believes has The Triune God walking with them through it all. Together, God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit discipline, redeem and counsel us when needed. Together they lead us through trials, illness and the stormiest of seas. They help us grow our faith, endurance, perseverance, and hope.

Our omniscient God has the power to lead in the cleanup of the mess in aisle one. He knows the past, present and future of all of our aisles. My aisle. Your aisle. Our pain. Our sadness. Our fears. Our grief. Our stress. Our anxiety. Our bitterness. Our disappointments. He also celebrate with us in our mountaintop events, joys, healing and victories. Father, may we never leave You out of our day. There are ways to keep You in the front, monitoring the aisles of our lives. Pray, read Your word daily, listen for the counsel of Your Holy Spirit, learn not be offended and to love. So simple it confounds the wise.

Scripture

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14 NLT
