This is war! That is a statement made when something is done or said to cause conflict. The truth is, the believer is always at war. It is a spiritual battle we fight. We cannot see the enemy lined up before us. No, he is wiley and slithers around trying to burst on the scene and catch us unarmed and unprepared.
Scripture gives us complete instructions on how to defend ourselves against our enemy…satan. The next number of days we are going to break it down and put this amazing armor on, one part at a time
First, is to gird your waist with truth. Girding the waist was very important as the flowing robes of bibical times were caught up out of the way so to make them battle ready. To be caught with a loosed girding or waist sash could be life threatening on the field of battle. (Isaiah5:27) The truth of the gospel of Christ should be a part of our life and with us continually for battle readiness.
Second, the breastplate of righteousness should be ON us, not laying to the side. Jesus became sin so that we might be righteous. We must identify ourselves as one for whom Christ died. Put that breastplate on and as my daughter says, “Draw up a fist and tap on that armor that protects your heart! The sound is like nails on a chalkboard to satan.”
Merriam-Webster defines righteous as 1) acting in accord with divine or moral law, free from the guilt of sin.
Scriptures For Today:
Ephesians 6:10-13
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. (NKJV)
Ephesians 6:14
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness..(NKJV)
Prayer For Today:
Hello Father! What would we do without our armor! Help us remember each morning when we wake, to prepare ourselves for a spiritual battle with an unseen enemy. Remind us daily that Jesus became sin so that we could become righteous through Him. Forgive us of our sins. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
