That Good Part

We simply adore this little dog. He is our thirteen year old Laso Apso. Harley is our angel dog. I call him that as no matter what time of the night God calls me out to study His word, that little dog wakes his sleepy self up and lays at my feet. Wherever my husband and I sit down, he is right there at our feet. Our protector, always on call to our needs.

His devotion to us reminds me of Mary. Jesus visited the home of Mary and Martha. Martha was a bit flustered tending to the entertainment requirements for her guests. Actually, she was grumbling about Mary not helping her. Mary on the other hand, stationed herself at the feet of her beloved Jesus. She gave Him her undivided attention.

We live such busy lives that it is easy to forget to sit at Our Master’s feet. Ready with our bible in hand listening for His words of wisdom. It is then that our Father takes us into the deep of His word. Speaking softly to our spirit, He often leads us to the resolution to our problems, fears and concerns.

Scripture for Today:
Luke 10:38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.
40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. (KJV)

Prayer for Today:
Hello Father!
Oh, to sit at your feet and give you our undivided attention. Father, forgive us that we sometimes get so busy that we forget the good part and instead run around upset and overwhelmed like dear Martha, forgetting to stop and listen for your voice in the madness that can be our days and nights. Thank you that You wait and are available. Father, we pray that we will make visits with You top priority each and every day. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
