Casting All Our Cares

image

Anxiety is an excessive uneasiness and apprehension. The world has become the chief source for such feelings. If I yield myself to what I hear, read and see then I am the personification of anxiety.

Knowing Jesus,  has given me a relationship with One who is greater than all the problems of this world. He overcame extreme anxiety on the cross. He is my shelter from the tempests of life. He covers my fear with assurance that I will go nowhere that He is not there.

Casting is a throwing off. I am to throw my anxiety to God. Roll it off of me and onto Him. I humble myself in doing so. Attempting to take care of anxiety on my own is saying to my most holy God, “I don’t need Your help.” I am placing myself above God holding onto my fear, as if He can do nothing about it.

~Thought For Today~

It is tough to relinquish control and humble myself before God, having been raised in an “I” culture. The world places high value on the self-made man or woman. Very few times do we hear credit given to God for success. When we cast all, not some, but all, anxiety on God, we are kneeling before Him, head bowed, humbled and trusting in His ability to handle whatever comes our way.

~Scripture For Today~

1 Peter 5:6-7

6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, 7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. (NASB)

~Prayer For Today~

Hello Father! We pray that we are able to cast today’s problems on You. It is You Father, You are the author of all that is good in our lives. We give You all the praise and glory. We bow before You today. We hand You our children, our business, our relationship issues, our financial situations, our sorrow, grief, illness and fear. Forgive us of our sins. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

  1. I haven’t commented in awhile, but this touched me in a special way in light of what I’ve been going through. An accident such as I had gives one plenty of time to think, and the outcome is that it’s HIS. Hands off, Ruby! Let go!
