I have retired! Hallelujah!!! Of all the things I could be doing I am looking forward to finally cleaning my closets. There are literally years worth of clothes hanging, some that have not been touched in years. Today, they are going to go through scrutiny and be removed if I cannot wear them or they have long passed their “fashionable” value.
Our lives are like that aren’t they? We have years worth of things hung in the “closets” of our souls. There is hurt, sadness, bitterness and that garment that takes up far too much space… unforgiveness. There it is crammed in and covered up until it pops out from its hiding place. It is taking up entirely too much space.
Time to pull out, evaluate, and find the lessons learned and the most important of all…forgive, bag it up and send it on. What a wonderful feeling to be free of the clutter so we can hang love, happiness, wisdom and knowledge in their place.
Scripture for Today:
Ephesians 4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
Prayer for Today:
Hello Father! Thank you for the experiences of our lives, even the most difficult. Thank you for your patience while we work our way through the closets of our souls, cleansing them of all that hinders our joy and steals our peace. Thank you that you extended grace unto us when we did not deserve it. Our closets are works in progress. Forgive us this day, sweet Father and give us the desire to return that forgiveness to those who hurt our spirits. In Jesus’name. Amen!
THIS IS GOING TO BE AWESOME… you are amazing.. glad you took the step.
Thank you Amy! Will need your prayers. Your Mom and I talked about writing about her experience before her surgery. I hope this will honor her. She taught me a lot in that last year.
Another thought on cleaning closets–isn’t it amazing how that article of clothing or jewelry was a “must have” at the time? Somehow, though, it worked its way to the back of the closet, worn only once or twice.
It’s life. The thing we “just had to have” or we just had to do may turn out to be a dud. Better to avoid impulses, take time, and pray it through.
You are right! I found so many things in my closet that had I prayed over them before spending the money…they would not have taken up the space. Good thought… pray before you pay!!!
