Our prayer closet or secret place can be just about anywhere. I have an area in my dining room solely for my Bible study time. That “closet” is quiet and peaceful. But, I have also designated some other areas for quiet time talks with my Father.
We have talked at the kitchen sink washing dishes. I have also been known to pray while putting makeup on, folding laundry, mowing the lawn, actually in a closet, at Medi Park Lake and driving my car. The closet that I have gone to the most is my journal. Beginning in 2002, I began writing my fears, sorrows, praises, requests on behalf of family and friends in a simple spiral notebook. I recommend it highly. I have been able to look back and see the resolutions to my petitions. He does hear and answer us. Our Father in heaven wants to converse with his children. Earthly Fathers, love to hear the voice of their children. They also love to know they have the ear of their children for wisdom to flow from Father to child. Our God desires that even more.
God is omnipresent, so wherever we are He is there as well, though unseen. He desires that we are unseen as well. That place where you are alone with Him is a potential prayer closet. He simply wants us to be sincere, make our petition within His will and trust Him in the answers. He cautions against loud prayers offered more to be seen and heard by man than God.
Today is Monday. A fresh new week begins. Our opportunities to bless those we come in contact with are endless. The sun has risen once again and God is in His house! A perfect day to smile, have quiet time with the Father, go deep in the word and work as unto the Lord in whatever He has called us to do.
Scripture for Today:
Matthew 6:5 And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. (NKJV)
Matthew 6:6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. (NKJV)
Psalm 141:2 Let my prayer be set before You as incense,
The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.(NKJV)
Prayer for Today:
Hello Father! We are so blessed to be able to have quiet time with you from our quiet chambers, unseen by the world. To know that You always have an ear to hear our needs, petitions and praise. Father, go with us today, place a fence row of protection around us and bring peace and order into our lives. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
You often quote those Bible quotes that I found valuable as a child, and have held in my world as reminders.
They are sermons in their own right, in my opinion.
They are like honey to us. They are like anchors to hold to. They are so rich and full of messages for us. Like you, I have memories of them from my early childhood.
Blessings,
Kathy
