Have you ever been the victim of someone coming against you? Perhaps even to the point of entering a courtroom? Sadly, our world is full of those who desire to be contentious and just difficult to the core.
Take heart dear believer. You do not enter that battle alone. You have an advocate who stands ready to defend you.
David is the writer of this psalm. He knew what it was to live with strife and contenders warring against him. It is apparent in this psalm that he discovered he does not enter the court or field of battle… wherever the accuser would meet him…alone.
I suppose we could rightly say that Jesus is the counselor for the believer. He stands before the judge on behalf of the faithful follower. He pleads our case. The only thing we must learn to do is hand the case over to him.
Jesus is our champion. He is our shield and buckler. He will contend with our contenders and defend the honor of believers. He stands with you, where you must stand.
The enemy knows where to hit to do the most damage and will use others to do that work for him. The only problem he has… Jesus. The enemy always looks for a place to hide when he hears that name. HE is our salvation!
Whatever we face today we are not alone. Our Father has made provision for us. The battle is His. Our Shepherd never leaves us alone. He carries us through whatever we are called to do. Go out today confident of that promise.
Scripture For Today:
Psalm 35:1-3
1 Plead my cause, O LORD, with those who strive with me;
Fight against those who fight against me.
2 Take hold of shield and buckler,
And stand up for my help.
3 Also draw out the spear,
And stop those who pursue me.
Say to my soul,
“I am your salvation.” (NKJV)
2 Chronicles 20:17
17 You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD is with you. (NKJV)
Prayer For Today:
Hello Father! We know that you are watching over us with a Fatherly eye. In times of trouble, when our peace is stolen, sleep is hard to come, spears come at us from every direction… You hear the voice of Jesus, representing us before you as our advocate. We never enter a battle that Father and Son are not involved. We pray that you would touch any today who find themselves at odds and under attack. We lay any problems, worries and fears in your hands. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
