God is our shelter. Heaven is His temple of residence. But, I find that He provides places on earth that we can slip away to and find Him close here too. A secret place to separate from the difficulties of life. A place to reflect on what has been lost but also what we have now. The peace with our past and the blessings of our present.
Cimarron Canyon, New Mexico is that place on earth for me. So many memories shared with family who are no longer with me. I am confident they are with our Heavenly Father. So there is separation for now but comfort that one day there will be reunion.
We rode through my “earthly shelter” yesterday. So beautiful. Everything is green from abundant rain. The mountain tops are still covered with snow. Such a beautiful sight. Just a small part of God’s creation on display.
Spent time with friends yesterday. Fellowship and celebration of all the blessings God has sent each of us. Sitting by the fire pit, the smell of the woods all around. Wind blowing through the aspens. Gathering pine cones for future projects. A calming that cannot be found in the city. Shared with special friends who have also found solitude here in these mountains.
~Thought For Today~
Find your earthly shelter. Sojourn there for a while. Take time to remember all that God has brought you through. Take a deep breath and start moving through each day to come…One day at a time.
~Scripture For Today~
Psalms 91:1-4
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!” 3 For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper And from the deadly pestilence. 4 He will cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark. ~Prayer For Today~
Hello Father! Thank You for providing shelter beneath Your wings. Thank You for the beautiful places You have shared with us on this earth. For the memories that those places hold for us. We pray for peace in reflection and thank You for our various histories. Our past, present and future with You as our guide, our protector and the creator of all that is. Forgive us for forgetting Your holiness. For taking Your importance to lightly. For forgetting all that You have done to bring us to this moment. Forgive us of our sins. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
