Do Not Disturb

Merriam-Webster defines tranquility as (a) free from agitation of mind or spirit and (b) free from turmoil and disturbance.

Where do we find this state of being in a world that suddenly has become embroiled in constant turmoil? Evil beyond our imagination is before us daily. How do we calm the anxiety and turmoil that the world brings in our door?

There is a time before we let the world in. It is not a set time for anyone but you. A time when you close the door and hang a do not disturb sign on the door knob. It is the time you have chosen to meet God in the sanctuary of peace.

For me, it is between 4:00 and 5:00 am. I am an early riser. Rising early is a lifelong habit that I have not been able to break. The house is dark, quite, undisturbed. Coffee and my Bible before me, prayer for what God has for me and then it begins. My Hello Father conversation! Father, prepare me for the day ahead.

You may not be an early riser. Perhaps later morning or evening after the chores and duties of the day have been completed is a better time for you. Whenever a moment can be set aside to just be still and get centered with Jesus is so important to keep your mind off the world and on Jesus.

Thought For Today:
Our days go much better when we start talking with our Heavenly Father. He knows what is ahead of us. He knows before we do, the rough places in our road. When He hears us ask for a blessed day He sends his angels ahead of us to clear a path. It doesn’t matter at all to God how long we talk with Him. He loves hearing from us all through the day. Prayer time can be as simple as a single word-help! Or as complex as many minutes of letting Him hear what troubles us. Like a good Father, He wants to hear our voice. He wants to hear what troubles us. He wants us to surrender to Him so that we have the peace that only He can give. All to thee my blessed Savior I surrender all. That is music to His ears.

Scripture For Today:
John 16:33
33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (NLT)

Proverbs 3:5-6

5Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. (NLT)

Jude 1:24-25

24 Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault. 25 All glory to him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are his before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen. (NLT)

Prayer For Today:

Hello Father! Thank You for the moments we can set aside to take counsel with You. You and only You can calm the waters and still the wind of our day. We thank You that You are available whenever we call Your name. You are there to hear and bring understanding and solutions to what troubles us. Forgive us of our sins. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
