Fractured

Not much writing going on for me since 2019. I just recently began to feel the words rambling in my head again. I hit a hard place. A place when my thoughts were not focused but found to be wandering to all the noise of this world. Noise from every direction. It seemed to crowd out the most important noise. There is so much fractured thinking that picking a side seems to be “in” for now. Pick a side and get on the bandwagon. Don’t worry about how foolish what you say sounds…Just make noise. Divert the attention away from what is slowly trying to wound us. News flash!! There is only One in control and He determines when we are finished. He determines the direction of our lives and our future. He is the voice that should command our attention.

It took a while for me to figure out that our enemy; the enemy of all believers, loves fractures. He likes to break things. He loves to divide. He settles on who will help him deliver the fractured behavior so that society becomes overwhelmed by the noise. At some point, you just pull back and proclaim that you don’t want to listen anymore. I am guilty of doing that for a time.

Sitting in the car waiting on someone and it suddenly occurred to me. The enemy has actually suffered a blow. Not a killing blow. That blow will come one day. Society and the armies of this world will not be the one to end his tirade on this earth. But, goodness is prevailing in the midst of chaos. Do you feel it? Do you see and hear bits of goodness sneaking through? Do you see the promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14 coming to pass? There is so much noise that I almost missed it.

It has to do with healing. I suppose it could apply to healing of all kinds of fractures the enemy has brought to bear in each of our lives. But for the sake of the times in which we live, I am speaking to the healing of our land. Yes, this land with all the noise. There are millions praying and praying, and praying some more.

The enemy wants us to believe that we are broken beyond repair. That hope is leaving. That hysteria and fear are our only options. Not true! We have always been a nation, city, and town of brave and bold decisions. The decision has been made by the people. We move forward. We stand firm. We spread the love of Christ. We are the salt and light in a dark world.  We speak! We shine for Jesus even in our darkest days.

Scripture

Matthew 5:13-16 NLT

You are the salt of he earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that can ot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket.  Instead a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your Heavenly Father.

Prayer

Hello Father. We are in that world that Jesus told us about before He departed. We should not be surprised at what we see happening. It brings worry and fear and way too much anxiety. We pray your guidance will lead us to remember why we are here. That we are to be the salt and light of Your love to the world around us. That they may see that the sacrifice of Jesus for our sin is the only way to arrive at the narrow road. To move into eternity. Keep us aware that what causes our light to shine is Jesus and His love. That we transfer that salt and light to the world around us. Help us to be tender and kind and yet bold. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
