The Heart That Is Fixed

The heart is a very important part of our body. It pumps blood throughout the body, carrying oxygen and nutrients. It also carries out waste. Without it the body cannot live.

So, what is a “steadfast” heart?

Merriam-Webster defines steadfast as a) firmly fixed in place; b) not subject to change. When David is saying that his heart is steadfast, then it must be fixed and immovable. On what? On the Lord?

Is is not true, that a heart fixed and trusting in the Lord is going to keep us healthy and unafraid by what we see going on around us? A heart set steadfastly and trusting does not mean that we will not have trouble, that we will not have moments of fear. But, we won’t go out seeking and looking for it. We will stand firmly anchored in our belief that the Lord has control and most importantly He has our back in the battles that surround us.  We won’t speak fear into our life. We will “pump” good things throughout our mind and body. We will send along with the oxygen and nutrients…goodness, kindness, fearlessness, courage, encouragement, a passion and trusting for Jesus.

As we prepare for the new year before us let’s make plans to prepare in us, a steadfast and firmly seated heart in the word of God. Trusting Him, not being afraid of the evil tidings that news brings to us daily.

Scripture For Today:

Psalm 112:7-8

7 He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. 8 His heart is established; He will not be afraid, (NKJV)

Prayer For Today:

Hello Father!  Thank You for the heart that beats for Jesus. We give thanks today for a heart that stands firm in Your promise that we have nothing to fear, for You are with us. We pray that all would come to know Jesus and find the peace that resides with a heart that is steadfast and firmly anchored. Forgive us of our sins. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
