Have you ever had things happen and someone says to you, “It must be God’s will?” That bites a bit doesn’t it. How can this trouble in my life possibly be something within God’s will?
We all have passed through the waters of despair. Things happen without warning. We are not ready for the change in our plans. Suddenly, the peace that was our life is disrupted. I say disrupted, because with God, life events are never the end. They may seem like the end, but really they are disruptions. They are a change in course.
We all have disruptions. Injuries, illness, lost employment, lost financial security, friends who abandon, relationships severed, withheld forgiveness, punishment that has gone on far too long. All of them disruptions. Merriam-Webster defines disruption as something that interrupts the normal course or unity; to throw into disorder.
Believers in Christ have something special within them, to fend off the disruptions that occur. It comes with our acceptance of Christ as our Savior. It is something that humans have difficulty with. But our God! Our mighty God? He never lets us down.
That gift is trust. We can trust Him forever! Now and eternally, forever. Our trust is not misplaced in Him. It is when we place it in money, things and people that our trust can be severed. They are all capable of breaking the promise they bring to us. Not God. Not Jesus. Not the Holy Spirit. Even though the events in our lives seem far from what seems a fair will, of the Father…We must trust Him with everything. He knows all our business. Our past. Our present. Our future. No one else can ever know all that about us. If they could know all that, they might not like us very much.
~Thought For Today~
Whatever disruption the day, week, month or year brings to our door, we can be still and let God direct our lives. Is it easy to be still? It is not. We want to be in control of our lives. We have in our mind what a perfect life should be like. But we live in a broken world. Life isn’t going to be perfect according to our will. However, we can believe, if we trust in the Triune God, our life will move perfectly in His will. There will be broken places and bumps in the road but our God will be our navigator. He will never let our trust in Him be a failed offering. We can say with confidence, ” I am not sure how this could possibly be Your will for me, but I trust You with my life and soul, so even now, I give You thanks for all things.”
~Scripture For Today~
1 Thessalonians 5:18
18 in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (NASB)
~Prayer For Today~
Hello Father! We ask your forgiveness for the times we question what You are thinking, when it comes to our lives. The disruptions that come and temporarily knock us to our knees, seem so unfair. But even then, You show us unending love and grace as You direct our lives through the hard places, in Your will. We pray today, for those who are met with disruptions. We pray they feel Your love, Your grace, Your forgiveness and Your healing hand. Forgive us of our sins. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
