Living Fret Free

It is hard to be still. Even more difficult to keep our mind still. The body can rest but the mind continues to run a relay around the worries in our world. The enemy wants us to think on all that is wrong and not that one thing that is right. Our acceptance of Christ as our redeemer.

Patience is something wise advice tells us we should not pray for. To ask for patience may place us in the midst of something to exercise the answer to such a prayer. I am not patient. I want things to be organized, resolved, complete and done…NOW! Remind you of anyone you know? Worrying about those who seem to commit vile, evil acts and yet seem to suffer no consequence, is futile and a great waste of time and energy. Hard to watch isn’t it? Makes you want to do something to speed up their demise. Revenge is mine says the Lord. We may not see it but we can know that what goes around will come around to those who wound, hurt and bring havoc.

Fretting? Merriam-Webster defines fret or fretting as: (a) to eat or gnaw into, corrode (b) rub, chafe (c) to cause to suffer emotional strain. Wow! Overcoming the fretting part that our scripture addresses might be the most significant to finding peace. All the fretting we can muster on any given day will not curtail the schemes of the wicked. Some antonyms for fretting are: be happy, ignore, delight, soothe, calm. It is the opposites of fretting that we find when we are still in the presence of the Lord.

Thought For Today:
It is hard to watch the wicked prosper. It is calming to realize that the prosperity of believers is not in the things of this earth. There is a prosperity that exceeds any material wealth. A time will come when we will leave the things on earth behind us. It will be then that we will see and realize the great wealth we were attaining as we lived a life for Christ. While we are working at being still, praying, reading His word, sharing our experiences…He is preparing many mansions. When we step into that place specially made for us, will be the moment we realize the reward for believing, trusting and praying through difficulties. The peace of being still with a mighty God who made a covenant with us through the blood of Jesus. He means business.  We are forgiven. We will thrive as His children. We will overcome against all the odds the world throws at us.

Scripture For Today:
Psalm 37:7
7 Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. (NLT)

Prayer For Today:

Hello Father! Oh, we struggle with this “be still” part of your word. The no worry or fret request. Father, as You know, we live in a drive through world. We need it now! Waiting brings anxiety. We pray today for all the opposites of fretting. We ask for spirits of soothing, calm, delight and happiness in You! You have everything under control. We see and focus on what the world looks like with the enemy and his workers doing their business. Their time is short. You Father, it is You we need to keep our eyes on. It is You who will bring us into blessing. We pray today for the experience of still, quiet waters. Refreshing fellowship with the creator of all things. Please forgive us of our sins. Amen.
