Today begins a new year. A new beginning. New resolutions. A chance to make changes. The opportunity to set the baggage carried far too long…down and leave it behind.
The last of our armor we are to put on is prayer and supplication. It is the sealant or glue that secures our armor. Though we are required to fulfill numerous duties in our day we need time for prayer. Time set aside for prayer and study are crucial to face the battles that will surely come.
We can inject short, powerful prayers throughout our day. We pray for others, for mercy in circumstances, resolution of problems, forgiveness of our sins, and thanksgiving for the God who loves us and hears our prayers.
Thought For Today:
Our Jesus is all mighty and powerful. It is His power that empowers us. It is His strength that gives us strength to fight the spiritual warfare that occurs in our minds and lives. God hears our prayers submitted to Him through Jesus Christ. He is our advocate. He goes before us and covers our back. We need Him moment by moment. Our study book? The Holy Bible.
Whatever you have been through. Whatever your past mistakes were. The relationships that fell into disrepair. The sorrow that hangs over you like a dark drape blocking the sun. Let us step into 2015 with a new mind. Turn the sadness, the fear, the rejection… into victory through Jesus. Our past does not define who we are in Christ today and going forward. Without the pain and struggle our history represents we would not have the testimony we have today. Let us put on the full armor and wear it faithfully every single day of the year before us. Scripture directs us how to keep walking…
Philippians 3:13 ” Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.” (NKJV)
Scripture For Today:
Ephesians 6:18
18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— (NKJV)
Prayer For Today:
Hello Father! It is a new year. By your grace we stand ready to begin anew. We pray for renewed knowledge of Your word. We pray for courage to stand and speak Your truths. We ask for forgiveness of our sins and Your favor for the new year before us. Father, I pray for my family and friends and all Your children, that they put Your armor on each day and stand firm against the powers of darkness. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
