Paul is encouraging his fellow believers. We pray for you always, that our God will count you worthy of your calling. He was praying that they would prevail through whatever came before them. Be strong and faithful. He prayed that God would fulfill every desire they had for goodness. That their faith would enable them do the work of God powerfully. To walk boldly and unafraid.
Why? Only one reason. One very good reason. So that the name of the Lord would be glorified through you and you in him.
According to His grace.
~Thought For Today~
The best gift we can offer to our family, our friends, our co-workers, even strangers who pass us on the highways and by ways of life, is to pray for them. Take time to care enough to seek God and pray His blessings and favor, not just for those who are in crisis, but for all, just because…God desires to be present in each life.
I like very much the idea of prayer walking. You just walk along quietly interceding. Around the block where you live. As you pass a home just ask God’s blessing over the precious souls who reside there. Is there strife in the workplace? Prayer walk through every room. Pray for God to bless the one who sits in each chair. Pray that peace abides throughout the building. Family members having worries that burden them? Intercede for them. Ask God to break the chains that are holding them back from the success they dream of. I know it works. I have seen it bring peace. I have also seen what happens when God is far from the minds of the occupants. When we pray for them, things can change. When it changes for them it will also change for us.
I imagine that most who are reading this, understand fully what the value of prayer is. Prayer time is possibly a very important part of your day. You know what I mean then. You know that you can see the results almost immediately, not just in the person you are praying for but in yourself.
Even when surrounded by “mean” people, keep praying. God will break through and amaze you with the results. People need prayer. Even so they may disregard so great a gift. Paul was setting the example. We are expected to do the same.
~Scripture For Today~
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
11 To this end also we pray for you always, that our God will count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power, 12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. (NASB)
~Prayer For Today~
Hello Father! Hallowed be thy name. Stir in us the desire to pray over everything and everyone. Everyone! Soften the hardened hearts to receive You and Your grace. Comfort the heart that is broken. Bring peace and calm to the heart in turmoil. We pray that we live to honor You. Forgive us of our sins. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
