God has left no doubt where He stands. The question we should ask? Where do I stand? Evil abounds. It seems every day brings new evil, new fears, new schemes. The enemy loves it, when anxiety begins to rise in us. When we feel like we are pushed into a corner with no exit strategy. I discovered this passage this morning by searching scriptures that pertain to “fools.” I had never read it. As I read it, I felt anxiety start to move in me as I read the promises God makes for those who don’t listen to Him. For those who scoff the word of God. Those whose ears become deaf to His word. Those who reject His advice. It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God, when we oppose Him.
Then I got to verse 33. It is a promise we can stand on. Though unrest is all around us. Though wars and rumors of war abound. Though schemers of evil plot daily. In spite of all that…All who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm.
Think on that. Live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm. What we have to do to receive this promise? Listen and learn from the discipline of the Lord. Be wise and discern the things of the Lord. Listen to Him.
The only way I know to “listen” to our God is in reading His word and being sensitive to the spirit sent to every believer. Our comforter. Our counselor. Daily opening the pages of His voice speaking to us. Seek passages of scripture that will give us answers to the things that trouble us. Research His word. Pray for those we love and for our country. Pray for our leaders. Even, those who may be the source of our fear and anxiety. It is those we should call on God to intercede in their lives and turn them.
We are going to live in peace, untroubled by harm. Jesus died for our sins so that we could live our life here with the knowledge that when our business is finished here, a new life without evil, and opportunities for fear, awaits us…Eternal life. Two promises we can count on. Jesus and eternal life.
~Scripture For Today~
Proverbs 1:28-33
28 “When they cry for help, I will not answer. Though they anxiously search for me, they will not find me. 29 For they hated knowledge and chose not to fear the Lord. 30 They rejected my advice and paid no attention when I corrected them. 31 Therefore, they must eat the bitter fruit of living their own way, choking on their own schemes. 32 For simpletons turn away from me—to death. Fools are destroyed by their own complacency. 33 But all who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm.” (NLT)
~Prayer For Today~
Hello Father! We desire to live each day with eyes that dwell on Your word and the promises You have given those who heed them. We pray that we are encouraging to those whose faith has waned. You have not promised turmoil and chaos for those who believe. You have promised that we will live in peace, untroubled by fear. Let us begin to live and speak like victorious warriors. Forgive us of our sins. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
