Read, Rejoice, Fast and Pray

Hello Father. Good Morning! We wake once again to the air of a country and world that seems to be engaged in a full on war between good and evil.

Somedays I am shocked by what I see, hear and read. I am quickly snapped back spiritually by a husband who reminds me that this was all laid out very well for us in the scriptures. As believers we should not be shocked or fearful by all that may happen in our world. The shock slowly ebbs from anger and fear into peace. I realize that You have complete control over the outcomes. That You are not shocked at all. That You are quite prepared to see it all to the end…Whenever, that happens.

What do we do in the meantime? Your word mentions four things to help make the days easier. Put on our armor daily, rejoice, fast and pray.

Thank You for another day to do just that. Our armor begins to rattle and surround us when we open Your word and read even the shortest of scriptures. The enemy backs up at the mere mention of Jesus. He would much rather we not crack the Book! Our feet take a firm stance and our bodies prepare to fend off the darts the day will bring as we rejoice, fast and pray. We are able to focus on what You have promised instead of what we are seeing in this dark world. We can bring light to our little corner of the world.

Ephesians 6:13-16

Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. (NASB)

Ezra 8:23

So we fasted and sought our God concerning this matter, and He listened to our entreaty. (NASB)

1 Thessalonians 5:16-22

Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (NASB)

Father, You see all things. We lean on You and Your word daily for encouragement. We offer thanksgiving and praise for our blessings and pray that our words and actions would bring light to the world around each of us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
