Rise Early, Pray And Eagerly Watch

David’s morning routine involved three steps for him.

He would go before the Lord first thing in the morning. He acknowledged who was capable of bringing order to what could easily become disorder for him, before his day was over.

He would order His prayer to his Lord.

He would eagerly watch to see how God would respond to his petition of prayer.

Though we pray many times a day and often through the night, prayers offered first thing in the morning seem to set the tone for our day. We draw the attention of our God with our praise honoring Him. We share with Him what is on our mind and the needs we have. We are at peace  and ready to meet the day, to get things done.

David was not only going to let God hear his voice early but he was going to eagerly watch. Watch to see what came of his petitions. His faith made him confident that God would intervene on his behalf.

~Thought For Today~

I did not always pray as I should have. Often my days would begin in turmoil. Hurrying to get children ready for school and get myself to work on time. Many days started with frustration and then snowballed from there. Defeat was generally my mindset at day’s end.

Then, I began to rise early and read my Bible. That started my prayer routine. Sadly, for years, I toiled daily, when help was a breath of words away. My days began to start and end much calmer and more peaceful than ever before. God did indeed  hear my voice. I grew in faith that He would hear my voice and would answer me, as long as my prayers were within His will.

~Scripture For Today~

Psalms 5:3

3 In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch. (NASB)

~Prayer For Today~

Hello Father! We look to You as our day begins. We offer our praise and petitions to You and then watch with eagerness at Your response to our concerns and needs. We grow stronger in our faith everyday that You are our source of help. We praise Your holy name. Forgive us of our sins. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
