Seeking After God

It was approximately one thousand years before the birth of Christ that David wrote the scripture for today. He did not have before Him the history in scriptures of Jesus…His birth, His walk, His death, nor His resurrection. He had fortelling of what was to come but he lived long before the life of Christ. How much more should we desire to seek the face of God? We have all of the New Testament to encourage us in our walk of faith.

Merriam-Webster’s definition of seek: to search for someone or something,  to ask for help, advice, etc.,  to try to get or achieve something.

God is already looking at us when the invitation comes to seek? If He counts the number of hairs on our head then I believe His eye is already on us. (Matthew 10:30) Isn’t it true that no other face can help us or show us the favor that God can? Not family, not friends, not employers, bankers and the list goes on. He can place people in our life but He is the ultimate source of our help. Only God sees us in the times of trial. It is He only that truly knows our struggle. Only He can make all things possible, in all circumstances we face? He desires that we seek His face.

Thought For Today:

Scripture gives us assurance that in seeking His face we receive favor by way of His strength. His desire is for us to seek Him daily. In seeking we are asking for His blessing and favor with the issues that effect our lives.  We have so much more information available that should cause us to desire to seek God’s face. We have a personal relationship with the Messiah.  David did not have the benefit of knowing Jesus when he wrote this Psalm. Yet he knew the importance of seeking the face of God. We have the scriptures of the coming of the Messiah. We have the New Testament scriptures to prove out fulfilled prophecys of the Old Testament. Let us seek God’s face in all circumstances.

Scripture For Today:

Psalm 27:8

8 When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.” (NKJV)

Psalm 105:4

4 Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face evermore! (NKJV)

Prayer For Today:

Hello Father! Thank You for Your word. We pray that we seek Your face as David. Let us radiate with Your love, peace and joy. We pray for Your favor and resolutions to the issues we face. Forgive us of our sins. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
