Sowing Seeds of the Little Things

Most of our days are filled with little things.  So minuscule in light of the other responsibilities we are pressed with.  We may not realize the effect they have on those who are the recipient of  the  “little” things we are called to do each day. For example:

  • that ball game you sat and cheered at when the Lord knows you had so much pressing for your attention but seeing the smile of victory on the face of that child was worth it all
  • that school program after a long day of work when rest was what your body called for but meant the world to that child singing his heart out
  • that band contest taking you out and away from your home and things needing your attention but the smile coming back into the stands cannot be measured in time
  • that literacy meeting that requires a lot of preparation
  • that smile to someone who has been rude and unkind
  • that  meal you prepared when a sandwich would have been so much quicker
  • that  phone call, email or text to say “I Love you” in the middle of the day
  • that  laundry
  • that drive through meal you paid forward
  • those tears you noticed and stopped to console and offer a shoulder

Those are the things in our daily life.  No, we may not have pled a case before the courts today but we did “the little” things that keep our worlds turning.

Our Father is there in the little things and he will take those little seeds you have sown in that child, that family member, friend or stranger and grow it!

Scripture for Today:

Matt 13:
31 He told them another parable:”The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field.

32 Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”

Prayer for Today:

Hello Father!  Thank you for the little things that touch our lives. Let us joyfully attend to them, that they might bring you glory. You lift us up to the tasks ahead of us every morning and prepare our journey.  Father, may we love and attend the needs of others as you attend to ours. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
