The “wise” of the world often view themselves as enlightened, not needing to “cling” to anything but their own ideologies. In contrast, believers in Christ are often considered weak, requiring “something” to hold onto. Their Bibles, etc., etc.
That is a totally false idea and widely supported by the enemy. We may have moments of weakness, but do not be deceived into thinking the believer in Christ is weak.
Anyone confronted with difficult circumstances finds that in Christ is strength that we had no idea was there until trouble came. It is in those dark hours when suddenly the darkness becomes light, the tears cease and the strength comes. We become empowered to make life changing decisions and change the course of what seemed to be a hopeless situation.
David wrote this scripture from His own experience. He knew the courage and strength that comes from God. As a young shepherd boy he took the place of cowardly soldiers too afraid to meet Goliath. They shrunk back in all their armor and let this young shepherd boy walk out with a few stones and a slingshot to be met by a giant of a man with a shield and javelin. What were the odds that would be successful? Zero? He gave himself to God to use in His service and God took care of the rest.
Thought For Today:
It is not cowardly to depend daily on God for our livelihood, our light in a dark world. Our strength when met by the giants in our life. He empowers and guides us with the strength to crush anything that comes against us. It is in our weakness that we become strong.
Scripture For Today:
Psalms 18:28-32
28 You light a lamp for me. The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness. 29 In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall. 30 God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. 31 For who is God except the Lord? Who but our God is a solid rock? 32 God arms me with strength, and he makes my way perfect. (NLT)
1 Corinthians 12:9-10
9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 10 That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (NLT)
Prayer For Today:
Hello Father! Thank You that You take the weakness in us and make us strong. You stand with us in our battles. You protect us in harms’s way. You are our strong tower. Forgive us when we doubt our ability to withstand the hardships that come our way. Forgive us of our sins. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
