Don’t know about you but I often have a small skirmish going on in my mind. A voice that tells me that I have imperfections. A voice that tells me my feelings should be hurt. A voice that tries to convince me that I am not worthy in many areas.
I have news! We need to identify the voice. Whose voice is it? Which one do I give my time and my peace to?
When that battle starts I pose a question to me, myself and I. What does God say about me? He knew we would deal with the force that roars about trying to create a battleground in our minds from time to time. So, we have His response by way of the inspired scriptures in our Bible.
Would God tell me I am not worthy? No! Would God tell me to allow myself to have hurt feelings by something said to or about me? No! Would God continually beat me over the head by bringing up my past sins and imperfections? No! So, the response to that question? If it is not God then it is that demon of trouble. The stealer of our peace. The pot stirrer! Always on the prowl to disrupt the lives of God’s children. He has been defeated. We need to reserve the space in our mind for God’s voice.
When thoughts of I am a failure, I am unworthy, I am unloved,, I am not forgiven pop in your head, remind yourself through God’s word of just who God says you are. The more you have that spirit conversation with God the less you allow those thoughts to invade your peace.
Scripture:
Romans 8:1-2
So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. NLT
2 Corinthians 5:17
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! NLT
Prayer:
Hello Father! Thank You that we are made perfect in Your Son. We ask that we keep Your words ever in our hearts and minds. Always ready to stop the condemning voice that is not Yours. We pray for diligence in reading your word daily to bolster our spirit when the other voices of this world creep in. We ask forgiveness for the times we question what we know to be a truth for all believers. Forgive us our sins and where we fail you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
