The Great Director

Have you ever felt like, one more wave and you will surely drown?  We reach a point after thrashing through high water waves for a while and start wondering, what is going on? Was this all in the bargain that was to be our life? Traveling shark infested waters, dodging bullets on a battlefield that we couldn’t see in our future when we were young? Someone forgot to tell us that there were going to be some very serious issues ahead. Life wasn’t always going to stay carefree. There were going to be some challenges ahead in the great play, known as our life.

We all have those times when we are forced to just stop and think. What exactly is our purpose? What part are we to play? There are curtains constantly going up and down, opening and closing the scenes to the documentary that is our life. Some of the scenes can be hilarious. Others, not so much. They can be devastating, causing panic, fear and grief.

Let’s think a moment about a great movie. All great productions have something in common. The director. He is the one with the vision. The vision that the actors do not quite see yet. They haven’t invested the blood, sweat and tears to bring this production to fruition. Our lives are much like that. We take our place, study our parts and begin to live them out. We are involved in the present scene, not thinking too much about the next. The director? Well he is already ahead of us. He has read the script. He sees the beginning from the end. Our part is to follow his direction. Trust him with the vision and the outcomes that he sees. Allow him to build our character. Trust him to guide us to the perfect ending. Oh, be sure that our part is going to include sorrow, disappointment, regrets, tears, and  seasons of despair. But, there will also be scenes of joy, love, reward, peace, hope and faith.

By now, you must surely know where I am going with this. Jesus is the great director. If you are a believer in Christ, it is He who has the vision for your life. It is He that we can trust not to fail us. It is He that sees what our eyes cannot see. He sees the sorrows and the joys. The challenges we will face. He prepares the way before us. He is the director, the shepherd. The one whose voice we hear midst all the clamoring vying for our attention. It is His voice we hear above all others. It is his coaching that will lead to success. The voice we can trust not to lead us astray.

The world is challenging us. It is a time to focus on the director. The one who gives the best advice on our next move. Listen for his voice and follow His lead. There may be a good bit of drama along the way but the ending will be outstanding.

~Scripture For Today~

Psalm 32:8

8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you. (NASB)

Isaiah 30:21

21 Your ears will hear a word behind you, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left. (NASB)

John 10:1-5

1″Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber. 2 But he who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 A stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.” (NASB)

~Prayer For Today~

Hello Father! We hear so many voices today. All trying to persuade us. Lead us. We pray that we listen for the only voice that matters. Thank you for directing our paths. For leading us through the waters and over the battlefields of life. For turning our tears to joy and our disappointments to celebrations. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
