We were never meant to make wrong choices. We were created to live good and very long lives. Live in a world of nothing but good days, basking in the favor of God. Then satan stepped into paradise. He asked a question. The seed of doubt was sown. His question started a discussion that led to a choice. Simple bites into a forbidden fruit would change everything. Disobedience. The first wrong choice was made. It was a choice that was going to take a miracle to overcome. It was going to take hundreds of years and a lot of punishing discipline to right that first wrong turn. To give us a way out from under the crushing burden of sin.
The miracle? The blood of goats and calves were only temporary fixes. It would take blood, running red from the body of God, who became man. Blood that ran down a cross with the sins of the world stretched out and nailed there. Wrong choices cause pain. They have serious consequences.
~Thought For Today~
Since that time, there in the garden, the sun has not risen on a day free of wrong choices. They cause chaos and unrest. Choices to gossip and slander. Choices to set people up for failure. Choices to pull the trigger. Choices to walk out on a family. Choices to kill and destroy good and replace it with evil behavior. All because of a choice. Choosing evil over good.
We are all guilty of wrong choices. There has only been one life that never made a wrong choice, perfect in every way. A lamb without blemish. The perfect, once and for all, sacrifice. One who loves us though we are covered in the sins of wrong choices…Decisions to follow the wrong road. Choose to go along with the crowd.
Jesus gave His life as a sacrifice so that those who would choose Him might receive forgiveness of sins through salvation. Choose good over evil. One more chance to right a wrong. What a difference a choice can make. No matter how wrong the choices we have made in life, there is a choice to be made, that will be life changing.
~Scripture For Today~
Romans 3:23-25
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25 whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; (NASB)
Isaiah 1:18
18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool. (NASB)
Hebrews 9:12-14
12 and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. 13 For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (NASB)
~Prayer For Today~
Hello Father! Thank You for giving us a way to redemption. A perfect sacrifice to die in our place. We pray for discernment when choice presents itself. We desire to choose the better road. The road that glorifies Your Son. Forgive us of our sins. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
