Thanksgiving Day will arrive soon. A traditional time to reflect on what we are thankful for. Though couldn’t we say that every day is a blessing day with Jesus?
Believers have some special blessings that are gifts on every morning that we open our eyes. We don’t need a designated day. There are many. Three come to mind immediately.
Our blood was not required of us for our own sins! It is such a blessing that Jesus was willing to walk to the cross to shed His blood for ALL our sin. Speaking as a sinner, that truly is a daily blessing. It is one that I do not take lightly. Each day has its challenges. God knew that I was not perfect and would need help with this. He knew that about you as well.
Each day, we have an advocate who stands between us and the Father. God cannot converse with or look upon sin. Having accepted Christ as our Savior enables God to look at us through the blood of Christ. I like to visualize the door posts of the Passover brushed with the blood of a lamb. God “passed over” when He saw the blood. We are covered in the blood of our lamb who was sacrificed… Jesus Christ! A blessing above all.
We have access to the Father in Jesus’ name every second, minute and hour of the day. He doesn’t ever put up a closed sign, or hours of business. In the early morning He is there for us. In the dark of night when troubles keep us from sleep, He is there for us.
We can journal letters to Him, talk out loud to Him, talk within ourselves to Him or we can just cry out and the Holy Spirit rushes to intercede when the words will not come. No one else is available to us like this. The blessing of conversation with a Holy God!
Thought For the Day: I, like many of you, have lost family that will not be with me this season of thankfulness. Some chairs will be empty because our precious ones are at the great table of God. Some chairs will be empty because of discord and an inability to forgive. There will be empty chairs because of broken relationships and homes. What will not be missing from our lives, is the triune Father, Son and Holy Spirit. So, let us reflect on the blessing those missing from our table were in our life. We will feel joy and peace that they knew the Savior and we will meet again one day. We will be thankful for all who are here with us. Our family, friends and the perfect strangers who offer a smile while in the midst of the frenzy of activity this season brings. All of these are true daily blessings in our lives!
Ephesians 1:3
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, (NKJV)
