Ultimate Security

imageA security blanket. Did you ever have one? Something to hold to when thunder, lightening and “monsters” were threatening. As a child, I never latched on to anything that I felt, protected me, other than my parents of course. My cousin, had a blanket that went everywhere he did. Everywhere! If it turned up missing after taken for a quick pass through the wash, every one paid dearly, until it miraculously turned up, cleansed and ready.

Now, that I am older, I look back through my life and find that I did have a source of security. All of us had a security plan. Since before we were born, Almighty God saw us.

Psalms 139:16

16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. (NLT)

God made provision for the times we were going to need security. Times when we would experience pain. Days when darkness fell over us and we were overwhelmed by the storms of life. He knew they were coming. Those storms. It all started in the garden. A choice opened up all kinds of life events. There were going to be good, bad and downright ugly days ahead for all humanity because of one decision. He in His divine knowledge knew. His word made sure that we knew He had made provision for those times. Those “guardian” angels we have heard about all our life were there for us. Wading through the good, the bad and the ugly times, watching over us. Sometimes, singing. Just had the thought, do angels weep over us as well?

Psalms 94:11

11 For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. 12 They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. (NLT)

As time passed, sin entered our lives. No matter how hard we try, sin does enter our lives. Wrong decisions. Misbehavior. Things we can never take back or change. Words said that live on and on and on. We might boast that sin has never touched us. But pride is a sin, so there we have it. Our Father in heaven made another security decision.

Hebrews 7:25

24 But because Jesus lives forever, his priesthood lasts forever. 25 Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf. (NLT)

God would come to earth as a baby. Grow to manhood. Teach twelve men the things about Him and His Father that they would need when He was no longer with them. He was beaten and crucified. He rose the third day and showed Himself to many, that they might believe that He was the Messiah. He commissioned the disciples to be fishers of men and tell what they had seen with their own eyes. We could be forgiven of our sins, through Jesus Christ. He died so that we could live. But God had one more part to His security plan.

John 10:28-30

28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, 29 for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. 30 The Father and I are one.” (NLT)

There it is…Eternal life. Once we get as good an understanding as is humanly possible, that death here steps into life there, life in the place God has been preparing since He first saw us? Well, it takes some of the fear and pressure off. We are secure in His hands. We are better equipped to live lives worthy of all that God has done for us.

He was there before we were born. He was there as we grew. He sent Jesus us to help us with our inherited sinful nature. And, He will be there to walk us across the threshold of eternal life with Him. No tears, no fears, no guilt, no anger, no jealousy, no evil.

~Thought For Today~

There was never a promise after that garden event that we wouldn’t experience storms. The choice was made. But He has never left us. God prepared all the security we need, but we have to agree and sign on for the plan to include us. We must humble ourself before God and believe that Jesus was the Son of God. Believe that He died and was buried. He rose the third day. By His blood we receive salvation through Christ and receive the inheritance of eternal life from our Father who…Saw us before we were.

~Prayer For Today~

Hello Father! Thank You for thinking of us, before we were. Before we touched the earth. You have prepared security for all stages of our lives up to what seems like a very sad ending. But, You are there. You take hold of us and draw us to You for the gift of life eternal to begin. Forever, to live with You in a world without evildoers. We are blessed. We pray for all to come to the saving grace of Jesus. We pray that Your spirit softens the hardened hearts of so many. We pray for boldness to simply tell our stories. Our amazing stories, of Your love for us. Forgive us of our sins. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
