Walking with Jesus seems to get easier the older I get. I don’t know why exactly other than after sixty-five years I have been tested somewhat and found Him there in the fire with me so many times. I believe through His grace that He has forgiven me of my sins.
That He hears me when I call, comforts me when sorrow comes makes it effortless for me to walk with Him…most days. You say, “what is up with this most days talk?” Well, I am human and some days it takes effort. It is easy to become distracted and take my eyes off of Jesus and focus on the storm around me. Putting Him center front in my line of vision helps me get back on track again.
Jesus doesn’t want us to pretend we are walking with Him. He wants to see us grow in our faith and the knowledge we have of Him as our Savior. Some days the enemy flies in and we say and do things that we know are not God’s will for us. I cringe when I think of things I have said and done over the years that very well may have left scars on people. I pray for their forgiveness.
When we walk with Him daily, moment to moment we can lean on Him. I do mean lean. There have been times I am sure He was actually holding me upright. Ever have a time when you just wanted to give up and go to the floor in a heap of tears? Yep, me too! Often.
When we walk with Him our ears are listening for His voice, our eyes reading His word. We should not be easily swayed by the words of the world. The enemy is most happy when there is “dust on the Bible” so to speak. He also is very good at trying to drown out the voice of God with all the static noise and distractions. Gotta block him outta the picture.
When we walk with Him we walk in peace exercising grace, love and patience with those around us. Even to those who have approached our last nerve. It is hard, but can be done with the same grace that Jesus extends to us. I am slowly learning that when someone has approached me with hurtful or even angry words, being still helps to keep grace intact. That little fiery enemy is in one ear telling you to let em have it and Jesus is in the other ear simply saying the word “grace.” Grace should always win.
Thought For Today:
Let us get on with the day, gird ourselves with armor and walk with and like Jesus!!
Scripture For Today:
Colossians 2:6-8
6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. 8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. (NKJV)
Prayer For Today:
Hello Father! The best laid plans are sometimes hindered by the enemy but we pray that we are able to fend Him off with the name of Jesus. Help us be strong and faithful, exercising grace, love and patience to ever soul we meet. We pray for dedication to prayer time and Bible study. Father we ask that you heal the sick, mend broken hearts and bring closure to years of pain with forgiveness. Forgive us of our sins and times we fail you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
