Jacob and Israel would not walk in the ways God required of them. They refused to obey His laws(Isaiah 42:24). As we prepare to read on to our scripture for today we would assume that God was through with them. He was angry and they had suffered because of their disobedience… And yet, He directed them to “fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are mine!” That is comforting to me. Isn’t it the same for you? I haven’t always obeyed and walked in His ways. But the child washed in the blood of Jesus is loved by a God who never gives up. He knows our name and has called us by it. We are His!
Thought For The Day: Such comfort comes from the scripture today. Though we become stubborn and go our own way for a time and most certainly suffer for those choices…yet we are His. When we see things happening in our country that cause us great concern, we have a mighty God who knows our name and will defend and protect us. So rest in Him.
The hymn “I Am His and He Is Mine” verse three, states very beautifully what it is to be His…
Things that once were wild alarms cannot now disturb my rest;
Closed in everlasting arms, pillowed on the loving breast.
O to lie forever here, doubt and care and self resign,
While He whispers in my ear, I am His, and He is mine.
While He whispers in my ear, I am His, and He is mine.

Prayer For Today:
Hello Father! So many frightening things are happening in our world. Most that we cannot do anything about. We are reminded that when we have received Your Son as our Savior, that we are then called by You. We belong to You and You will take care of what concerns us. Father, help us lean against You when we are troubled by what we see and hear. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
