We have had snow. Thirteen inches of beautiful snow. The weatherman says it fell at about four inches per hour. Beautiful large flakes, no wind, falling straight to the ground. Piled up on lawn furniture, topping the bird bath, the fence and defining just about every branch of the trees.
It has been a while since we have had a snow like this. Such a blessing of moisture upon a dry parched land. I was taking pictures of it today and the brightness of it was blinding. So white, so pure, so clean and life-giving.
Thought For Today:m
As God sent this beautiful blessing of snow for a dry, drought plagued land, He also sent Jesus to a world doomed with a drought of its own. Sinful people needing a way to come to Him. Only the blood of a Passover Lamb could cover the sin and allow a way to God.
When I looked out at this huge amount of snow, my first thought was…that is what God sees when He looks at the believers in Jesus. Though our hearts are parched, dark and stained with sin, His shed blood washes over and turns a dark sinful heart to a white that is whiter than snow. A heart God can look at through the blood of Jesus.
I cannot imagine any white, whiter than what I see covering everything around me. On the days when trouble comes, doubts sets in, a battle starts in our mind that we are a disappointment, we are not worthy…remember again that moment when we met Jesus face to face. That minute when we gave our heart away and became washed in the blood. When God looks down He sees us through Jesus’eyes. We have been bought…purchased. We are pearls of great price. Our sins are whiter than snow. We are jewels whom God loves.
Each new day brings an opportunity to rededicate our lives and seek after Jesus. A renewed, revitalized heart that belongs and seeks after God.
Scripture For Today:
Isaiah 1:18
18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. (NKJV)
Psalm 51:7
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. (NKJV)
Prayer For Today:
Hello Father! We forget what that first meeting with Jesus was like. We felt peace, joy, forgiveness like never before. Time moves forward. Life happens, and we forget that we belong to Jesus. We are bought with His shed blood. The darkness was turned to a white, whiter than snow. Refresh in us, who we are in Christ. Renew in us the excitment of daily following Him. Forgive us of our sins. In Jesus’ name. amen.
