Who Among You?

image

Our scripture today begins with a question. Who among you is wise and understanding? God wants to see good behavior in thought, word and deed. A gentle spirit.

The enemy of us all, cares nothing about understanding and wisdom. The last thing he desires to see, is good behavior. He appreciates arrogance and lies, that overide truth. He relishes the moment when jealousy runs amok and creates chaos where peace should reside.

James is telling us that bad behavior does not come from God above. Those traits are all symptomatic of earthly vices, demonic forces at play.

We see more and more symptoms of this type of behavior in our homes and workplaces. A life without God leaves a terrible void. Something else will come in and take over. Fill up the void.

It is similar to what happens when a gardener stops looking after his garden. Soon weeds come and fill in the empty soil spaces. Before long they have covered not only the empty spaces but they move in and choke out the good that once flourished there.

~Thought For Today~

When we find our Savior and develop a relationship with our holy God, He moves in. He brings peace, a gentle spirit, a reasonable mind, a heart full of mercy and a will to bear good fruit. He brings unwavering faith and wisdom. He reveals hypocrisy. The seed sown in righteousness is sown in peace by those who desire to create a peaceful environment wherever they go.

~Scripture For Today~

James 3:13-18

13 Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. 17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. 18 And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. (NASB)

~Prayer For Today~

Hello Father! All glory is Yours And Yours only. We pray that all may find You. That we let You in to fill the voids in our lives so that nothing slips in to destroy. Forgive us of our sins. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
