Just as we plan to hand down to our children and grandchildren, those things that were special to our family and would be reminders to them of our having lived, so must we hand down the things we know to be truth in our lives regarding God. Our spiritual legacy. Our experience. Our answered prayers. Our storms we overcame by our relationship with Jesus.
If we don’t tell them, how will they know? The growing culture of this day does not see the importance of a relationship with Jesus. We could see the end of christianity as we have known it our whole life, if we don’t carry it forward.
We start by loving and sharing the times when we found a light in the dark times of our lives. Share how that Jesus relationship helped us stand firm and make it through. Often with what felt like insurmountable odds. The prayers that have been answered. The eventual understanding of why some were answered with a “no.” The lives that we witnessed touched in a special way and the people who touched our lives with their spiritual wisdom and discernment.
Psalm 78.4
We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about his power and his mighty wonders. NLT
Prayer
Hello Father, Thank You that our relationship with You has given us a wealth of experience to share with our children, our grandchildren and families. Keep us ever on the path of sharing Your love, Your discipline, Your mercy and grace. Forgive us of our sins. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
